ACM Student Chapter and Oracle Academy Inaugurated


Student Chapter of Association for Computing Machinery and Oracle Academy was inaugurated in the Function of Department of Computer science and Engineering. The chief guest of the function Dr. Manjit Singh Bahmra, Head ECE and Dr. V k Gupta, Head, M E applauded the efforts of Staff and students of Department of Computer science and Engineering. 


Various student members of the Chapters highlighted the benefits of these two chapters in learning new technologies directly from the Researchers and Recruiters. Various Courses Available under these Curricula will help in the learning and development of live projects which ultimately help in targeting better Placement Opportunities. Students can learn Machine Learning, Data Sciences, Cloud Computing and various other courses as per the market demand free of cost. 

At the end of the function Dr. Raman Maini, Head CSE thanked the chief guests, Faculty members and students for taking time to give encouragement, so that Department’s development can touch the sky and provide benefit to the student. Department of Computer Science and Engineering student kanishka Sahu awarded with “Child Youngest Scientist Award of India "


Proud moment for Department of Computer Science & Engineering came, when Kanishka Sahu Third year student was awarded with child youngest scientist for the innovation of P.B.D Robot that is also known as a planted bomb deactivating system which is currently in the prototype version. The main purpose of this robot is to defuse the planted bomb without direct human interaction. 

For this Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath awarded him with the child youngest scientist award of India for his innovation in Lucknow. Kanishka previously got First Rank in Northern Indian Science Fair at the National science center New Delhi. He also got the First rank in the State level Science Fair in Ghaziabad and awarded by the director of the Rajya Vigyan Shiksha Sansthan. 

Vice-chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala Dr. BS Ghuman congratulated the student as well as to the Department and gave a token of appreciation to Kanishka. Dr. B.S. Ghuman also gave a message to the students of the university to actively participate in the research project and ensure Kanishka for any help from the university regarding his projects. Dr. Raman Maini Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department congratulated Kaniska Sahu for his achievement and appreciated the efforts of all the faculty members. He encourages the students to do more such projects as a team member. Dr. Abhinav Bhandari, Dr. Nirvair Neeru and Er. Navdeep Kanwal were also Present there during the occasion.

One Day workshop on National Board of Accreditation (NBA) Organized


Due to the phenomenal growth in the number of institutions, quality is a matter of great concern. Keeping in view of the same, Department of CSE, Punjabi University Patiala organized one workshop on “Essentials of NBA”. In this workshop, Dr. Akshay Girdhar, Professor and Dean GNDEC Ludhiana acted as a resource person. Workshop co-ordinators Dr. Abhinav Bhandari and Er. Navdeep Kanwal welcomes all the guests and presents the importance and benefits of taking NBA Accreditation for the Department. 

In the inauguration speech, Dr. Raman Maini, the Head of Department told that if our department goes for the NBA accreditation, it will help the students to recognize their degree program at the International level. Moreover, it will also helpful for the faculty to bring grants from various agencies. Dr. Akshay Girdhar elaborated about the process of NBA accreditation, its norms, and the inspection process. He also told that outcome-based education is key to improve the quality of education through NBA accreditation. Dr. G.S Batra, Dean Academics Punjabi University, Patiala was invited as a chief guest during the workshop. Dr. Batra congratulated the department of arranging such kind of a workshop and he motivated the faculty and department to work in the direction NBA accreditation to improve quality standards.

Faculty Development Program on "Internet of Things” Organized



One week faculty development program on ‘Internet of Things” organized by The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala. This Course was inaugurated at the Science Auditorium of Punjabi University, Patiala. Nearly 40 participants comprising teachers and research faculty from various institutes from across the region are participating in a week-long workshop. This course is being conducted in collaboration with NITTTR, Chandigarh.


Prof. G. S. Batra, Dean Academic Affairs, Punjabi University, Patiala presided over the inaugural session. Prof Batra threw light on the relevance of faculty development program in modern times. Dr. Mala Kalra from the Department of CSE, NITTTR Chandigarh came for the expert talk.

Dr. Raman Maini, the patron of the program and head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department enumerated the achievements of the university as well as his department. He said 145 students of the department are placed in reputed MNC’s. Many companies are still to visit the campus for placement drive. He said that the department is going to establish AI and Data Science Lab, industry-academia linkages and NBA accreditation in the near future.
Workshop coordinators Dr. Madan Lal, Dr. Nirvair Neeru, and Dr. Dhavleesh Rattan also shared their views. These type of courses will help in spreading awareness  among students regarding the demand of Industry and help them in Industry Readiness

NEW YEAR 2020 CELEBRATED

Beginning of New Year 2020 celebrated at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala. At this Moment Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Members Congratulated and wished for Prosperous Time ahead to Dr.Raman Maini, Professor, and Head. Dr. Raman Maini Thanked each one and wished for healthy and wealthy time. Family members of Dr.Raman Maini also Participated in celebrations.
Dr.Ragina Maini, CMO at this Moment also conveyed best wishes to everyone and Prayed for a healthy life ahead. Dr. Ragina Maini also urged each one to take at least 40 minutes to exercise daily for leading an active Life.
